This will increase the number of trans children who will end their own lives. The intent of a policy is its most easily predictable effects. The intent of this policy is to kill children.
"Now the important part..."

CMS will end funding gender affirming care for kids on medicaid.

Most hospitals will be banned from providing gender affirming care, at the risk of their medicaid and medicare funding being stopped.

Sometimes, I see Facebook posts from people I went to high school with, and it’s like they went to a totally different school with totally different people. None of what they say is even vaguely familiar to me or related to my experience of high school.

The use of “gift” as a verb is absolute nails on a chalkboard, every time. Why??? We have “give” already, a perfectly good word!!! “Gift them with” sounds terrible and ridiculous when you could just say “give them.”

Gender-affirming care saves lives
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

He told ChatGPT he was suicidal. It helped with his plan, family says.

Spoiler-free review of Wicked 2: Good adaptation overall, nice integration of Dorothy’s story, “Wonderful” was absolutely butchered (and not because Glinda was there), and neither new song was really necessary. The first was decent; the second added nothing and just dragged down the pacing.

High point of today: I got a legitimate email from an actual famous person this morning. 😲

Low point of today: I was so busy and worked so many hours that I had to put off responding to it until just now. 🫩

I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

Due to the ongoing government shutdown, SNAP is set to run out of money for the first time in its history. “It’s not that the administration can’t pay up” to fill the gap—“it’s that it has chosen not to,” @willgottsegen.com argues in The Atlantic Daily.

Not being even vaguely sarcastic:

At some point, a journalist needs to ask Johnson “you regularly claim you have no idea what your own government is doing. If we take you at your word, how are you so poorly informed, and do you this level of ignorance should disqualify you as speaker?”
Q: What's your message to the 170 US citizens who have been detained by ICE? About 20 of them are children

MIKE JOHNSON: I don't know what you're talking about with the children. I haven't seen that so I'm not going to comment on it.

America has to be the only allegedly-first-world country where people wish for access to health care like they wish for vacations or lottery winnings. The first question about any treatment is never “Is this the best option for my medical needs?” It’s always “How much does it cost?”
