May all those who’ve lost their lives to suicide due to mental illness rest in peace. May all those left behind know it wasn’t personal or done intentionally to hurt them. They are way more than their suicide. They deserve to be mourned just as we would anyone else who tragically lost their life.

Your mind can interrogate you. It can intimidate you. It can confuse you. It can tell you lies. It can try to kill you. It doesn’t want to hurt you. It’s not evil. It’s unhealthy, possibly even unwell, & needs help. Your mind needs a good diet, regular exercise, & routine checkups. Don’t neglect it.

Saying, “a permanent solution to a temporary problem“ regarding suicide doesn’t help. If you truly understood the torment, the horror, and the hopelessness, then maybe you’d better appreciate the seriousness and severity of the situation and realize why a motivational quote isn’t going to help.

It kills our friends and relatives, our sons and daughters, and our mothers and fathers. It doesn’t care if you’re black or white, gay or straight, or what uniform or suit you wear. It’s not drugs, gangs, or guns. It’s the dreaded result of an illness. It’s suicide due to mental illness.

Some people pray not to wake up again when they close their eyes to sleep. Some people daydream of nightmarish scenarios that they believe will end peacefully with their demise. Living a life with thoughts of suicide is a life that’s not truly living.

I could have died by suicide. It’s not something I’m proud of, but I’m also not ashamed to openly admit it. The lack of pride doesn’t come from feeling weak, selfish, or cowardly, but rather, because my life matters more than that. Yours does too. Please don’t ever give up on yourself.

Suicide doesn’t kill the pain, only the life it resided in. The pain is then transferred to those who are left behind, with the hopes of ending their lives too. We need to break the cycle of pain because otherwise, it will never end. We will continue losing precious lives.

The walking dead. Being alive is a facade when you’re already dead on the inside. The body is the last part of who they were to have its demise when their soul has already passed on. Suicide due to mental illness is a vile creature that society helps keep hidden out of fear, confusion, and shame.

I was told that by omitting the word "commit" when referring to someone dying by suicide as a result of a mental illness, it softens the impact. There’s absolutely nothing "soft" about suicide. The word itself is devastating.

When you fire the shot, you don't get to determine how deep the bullet goes, when it's removed, & when the wound heals. You cannot hurt someone & dictate when they should feel better & "move on". Don't impose conditions on how someone is supposed to recover, as this will only worsen the situation.

Most memories after a suicide were of how happy they were right before. They genuinely were delighted. Not because they were leaving you. They were at peace w/what they believed was going to be the end of the pain that claimed their minds. In a way, it was their going-away party.
