I kept expecting it to go into some dark messed up corner with Lovecraftian monsters but it never quite gets there. Rather it’s a coming of age story set mostly in a parallel world. It’s a perfectly fine novel but I think my expectations of what I think a SK novel should be stopped me loving it.

A teenage boy helps out an elderly neighbour after a fall and discovers a secret passage to another world where he must help overthrow a tyrant.
Not what I was expecting. This is more of a YA fantasy than anything King has previously written.

Work together to stop an alien psychic killing machine with a taste for nursery rhymes. Chilling and original. For this episode only Lizzie Hopley takes over from Niky Wardley as Friend, so that’s another ex companion playing the role , albeit one we barely know.
