This is sad news. Mersey Sound was the first poetry book I bought, and the few times our paths crossed he was lovely and funny. RIP Brian Patten
Liverpool poet Brian Patten dies at 79

Today’s discovery which I guess you all know about already…a spiritual jazz/funk/experimental record from the 70s ‘A Spirit Speaks’ by The Descendants of Mike & Phoebe…put together by Bill Lee, Spike Lee’s dad. Wonderful album that is added to my digging list…

I agree. The Fall supported by the Birthday Party played the Top Rank in Reading, and someone spray painted “sometimes even pleasure heads must burn” on the fire escape door, it was there for years. I wish I had a photo of it.
