Malcolm X Park enthusiast, ANC 1B chairman, and pro-democracy advocate running to be Ward 1’s next Councilmember
It’s official: ranked choice voting is here to stay. As the proud lead organizer for the I-83 campaign last year, I’m grateful to everyone that helped block this misguided delay tactic.

Now, let’s get back to the important work of educating voters and ensuring everyone’s voices are heard!
NEWS: The D.C. Council has rejected a bill that would have delayed the rollout of ranked-choice voting next year, both for the June primary and November general. RCV is now a go.

Only votes for the bill came from Bonds, Felder, McDuffie, Mendelson, and Trayon White.

Today, I joined with my fellow Ward 1 candidates to call on the @councilofdc.bsky.social to reject the latest attempt to cancel ranked-choice voting for the 2026 elections.

ATTENTION, BIKE LOVERS AND PARK ENTHUSIASTS

Malcolm X Park finally has its own dedicated bikeshare station! After a year of advocacy as an ANC Commissioner, I was thrilled to watch with neighbors as the hardworking folks at @bikeshare.bsky.social installed a new station at 15th and Chapin.

I’m heartbroken that this Thanksgiving has been tinged with tragedy for our DC community and especially for the family of Spec. Sarah Beckstrom. We grieve with them tonight. This should not have been the end of her journey of public service.

Violence has no place in our city. Today’s attack downtown was shocking and chilling.

My thoughts are with the Guardsmen and their families. They are going through horror on the eve of a holiday, when they should be celebrating gratitude. Our DC community stands with them.

As the former lead organizer for the I-83 campaign, which brought ranked choice voting to DC, I believe the recent effort by some members of the DC Council to delay RCV is wrong and unnecessary.

Voters were clear that this was what they wanted. It’s a good program that expands democracy and the Board of Elections has told us they are ready to implement. It’s time to move forward.
Fresh off grilling elections officials at a hearing yesterday, Wendell Felder introduces a bill meant to delay the implementation of ranked-choice voting.

A similar push failed during the budget talks. And, FWIW, BOE said Monday it was on track to have RCV ready by June...

¡Lo logramos! Les agradezco porque el pasado fin de semana calificamos para el programa de financiamiento proporcional al recibir donaciones de 150 residentes del Distrito.

We did it! Thanks to you, this weekend we qualified for DC’s Fair Elections Program by earning contributions from 150 DC residents. Fair Elections is a public financing initiative that keeps big money out of our elections and we are so excited to be a part of it.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last 24 hours. Because of you, we’re getting close to qualifying for DC Fair Elections! If you haven't contributed yet - can you chip in up to $50 to help us reach our goal?
