When we invest in our neighborhoods, we invest in the heart of Detroit. That's how we build a city where everyone has a chance to succeed.
Kresge didn't just invest in Detroit, they stayed. By choosing Marygrove over a downtown tower, they showed what real belief in Detroiters looks like: building with the people who never left.
Detroiters who stayed and invested in their neighborhoods are seeing it pay off. Property values are rising, homes are being restored, and Detroiters are building generational wealth. Mr. Johnson's $40,000 investment is now worth $100,000, proof that Detroit is leveling up together.
Detroit's blight removal mission is almost complete. 47,000+ vacant houses down to fewer than 1,000 left. 50,000 lots now ready for Detroiters to build, grow, and create what's next.

Own a piece of history on Detroit's East Side!

The City of Detroit has put two beautifully renovated former duplexes up for sale directly across the street from the historic Ossian Sweet Home and the newly completed Ossian Sweet Memorial Garden.
The PILOT Fast Track Ordinance is here to help developers and investors bring more affordable housing to our city and save big while doing it!

Building affordable housing just got simpler, faster, and smarter. Detroit is open for building and for everyone.

Ms. Kim calls it "a whole new world" and I couldn't agree more.

With more than 8,000 homes demolished under Proposal N, Detroit neighborhoods are safer, stronger, and full of opportunity. Together, we're turning every block into a place to thrive.

More than 3,000 properties have been preserved for future renovation and resale in Detroit neighborhoods.

This is how we rebuild Detroit. One home, one block, one neighborhood at a time.
The Cooley neighborhood was written off by many when the high school closed. But now, families are moving back in, houses are being restored, and what was once decline is turning into hope.
$10M invested.
Local leaders empowered.
Neighborhoods protected.

Together, we're building a stronger, safer Detroit.💙

We're investing in what works.
Trusted CVI groups are in our neighborhoods, standing with residents to prevent violence and save lives. Because of this work, Detroit is seeing another 15% drop in homicides in 2025. We're building safer, stronger neighborhoods together.💙
The current partnership between federal, state, county, and private violence prevention groups is achieving record reductions. #OneDetroit
In 2024, Detroit’s law enforcement strategy produced record declines and resulted in the fewest homicides, shootings, and carjackings since 1965. In 2025, Detroit is right now experiencing a further 15% drop in homicides, 25% drop in shootings, and 30% drop in carjackings, all record lows.
What an amazing sight to see!
I took a walk along the Whittier Corridor with residents to look at all of the progress we have seen. 600 broken fences, repaired. 500 vacant signs, removed. Corridors within the neighborhoods are now being reborn to drive further progress for our city in our neighborhoods.
Our finances are strong, our commitments are secure, and because of that strength, we can keep doing what matters most: investing in the future of Detroit’s neighborhoods.

Fiscal responsibility and neighborhood investment, that’s how we build a Detroit that lasts.
Detroit is keeping its promises.

In 2024, we began making pension payments to our retirees and we are meeting those obligations without difficulty. That’s a milestone many thought this city would never reach again.
Across our neighborhoods, long-abandoned sites are finally giving way to new opportunities.

From the former Cadillac Stamping Plant on Connor to the Southwest Hospital site, Detroit is transforming spaces that sat empty for decades into places that drive jobs, growth, and pride in our communities.
As Detroit’s population rises, so does the demand for quality housing. This project proves that when neighbors and developers work together, we can meet that need while honoring the community that’s been here all along.

Progress and community, rising together.

🏙️ Brush Park is growing and Detroiters are at the center of it.

With the completion of City Modern, hundreds of new homes now stand in Brush Park, built with the voices of longtime residents and the Brush Park CDC at the table every step of the way.
Detroit's momentum continues expanding the western riverfront with new investments and improvements in the Detroit People Mover that provide access to the Second Avenue Extension and Ralph C. Wilson Centennial Park.
May we never forget the resilience, unity, and strength that carried our country forward and may we continue to reflect those same values here in our city.
