1/2 Like I said, part of Trek's strength is its diversity of storytelling. There are episodes with big messages and episodes with just silly fun, and everything in between. There are good and bad episodes in all of those. I happen to think Tuvix is good. You don't. That's ok and beautiful. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ––
I think there is a moral dilemma - for the characters. How we ourselves determine what the right decision is tells us a bit about ourselves. I agree, however, there is no greater message about us as a species, but I also don't think good fiction always has to have such a message. 1/2
2/2... that was written so well people still debate the decision to this day. That's the beauty of Trek. There are so many different kinds of stories that do different things, and we as fans can find what we love in all that, and while we all differ, we come together for the love of Trek. ๐Ÿ––๐Ÿ˜
It is about us, but not in the literal sense. So many people talk about what they would do in Janeway's position. That is absolutely a philosophical thing while also showing us more of who Janeway is. There doesn't have to be a moral or message for us. Instead, it's a moral dilemma... 1/2
Are we controlled by shapeshifting Lizard People? In this episode of my horror podcast, we take a shallow dip into this conspiracy theory. Listen now on all major podcast platforms... or else. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

I don't think every episode has to be specifically about us in the literal sense, and I also don't think all good episodes are. Trek is a wonderful diversity of storytelling, and Tuvix is a characater development episode in the form of a philosophical exploration. It's fantastic ๐Ÿ––
Yes, absolutely. Difficult decisions all around. The Tuvix episode, though, seems to have really pushed people's moral buttons, so to speak. That we don't have this problem is not the point. The characters did, and in 43 minutes, we were made to care enough about Tuvix to have a dilemma. It's great.
