Watching Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1974). Surprisingly violent.

Controversial take: Miracle on 34th Street is a Die Hard movie.

Hi Netflix,
Why would you provide me with a Mike Birbiglia special and then ruin it by putting adverts in the middle of the quiet emotional bits. Why?

I’m an amateur comedian. I’ve just started writing my 13th hour-long show. You haven’t heard of me. My shows are never profitable and, on paper, my career is almost indistinguishable from that of a ‘bad comedian who should stop embarrassing himself’.

"That'll fix it", thought Ron, but he was wrong.

Two important rules my brain has:
1. Michael is generally not permitted to have two good days in a row.
2. If Michael *does* have two consecutive good days, day three will be a complete nightmare.

Ironically, the number of spammy AI-written posts on my social media feed pointing out the unfitness of the Mercator projection … is grossly disproportionate.

The stakes at comedy gigs can be too low sometimes.
“Thank god there’s no audience.”
“Do as little time as you want.”
“Let’s get this over with.”

This is my favourite bit of graffiti in London. It’s been there as long as I can remember.

I can’t start to feel Christmassy until someone reposts that 2013 Jezebel article about what a shitty film Love Actually is.

I really ought to be making more noise about the fact that I’ve never wanted to be on television.

One of the side effects of a Classics degree is a certain scepticism about medical language.
Patient: “Doctor, why have my fingers turned yellow?”
Doctor: “You have a condition known as ‘xanthodactylism’.”
That’s not a diagnosis; you’ve just translated the symptoms into Greek.

I find many people my own age old, slow and boring, so I spend time with younger people, who make me feel old, slow and boring.

Ever noticed how much time clever people spend thinking about how clever they are?
