Happy #dldday one and all. This year the theme is #youcantseedld. DLD is an invisible, life long neurodevelopmental condition that impacts language and communication. I had the privilege to meet adults with DLD for the first time this year. Onwards and upwards! @sounds-project.bsky.social

You can't see DLD, and so many people's needs are missed. They go through life struggling, never knowing that there is a reason why things are so hard for them.

Every day this week we will post one sign of a developmental disorder – you have to put the clues (signs) together to figure out which disorder we are describing!

Check back tomorrow for another clue!

The SOUNDS Project is working to change that by developing the first short screening tool for DLD in adults.

Follow us to stay updated as we work to make invisible communication challenges visible.💜💜

School can be tough for children and young people with DLD, but when teachers are aware of DLD it all changes.
We have loads of resources on our website which are ideal for schools. So please send this link radld.org/dld-educatio... to a school you know.

For people with DLD it can feel like being Harry Potter with his invisibility cloak.

You can't see DLD, and so even when things look OK from the outside, you won't know how hard people with DLD are working.
Make it easier by knowing about DLD and using strategies such as these:
