Three years ago, I helped @mhsmith.bsky.social start the @3wishesprogram.bsky.social at #UW. I am so happy to report that their program is thriving under his leadership and have granted wishes for over 400 patients!

Soccer was really important to him and after he died our volunteer artist created this painting for his family. Growing compassionate and humanizing end-of-life care with the 3 Wishes Project @uwmedicine.bsky.social.

In 2021, we were at the peak of the #COVID pandemic & an end-of-life patient requested a mariachi band performance. Coordinating an outdoor, masked, and socially distanced performance was not trivial--but the look on his face....PRICELESS. #kindness #finalmemories

We recently got a new volunteer artist to join our #3WishesProgram to create fingerprint paintings for bereaved families. This is her inaugural painting. Isn't it beautiful? #medsky

A few years ago, our UCLA 3 Wishes Project hosted a masked, outdoor wedding for a couple who wanted to their dying mother to witness their vows. Now, I hear that a baby is on the way! In death, life continues. There is only loss, if there was love.

UW Medical Center is celebrating the 1-year anniversary of our @3wishesproject_ and have fulfilled 439 wishes for 155 patients! This humanizing work is possible because of the amazing team @UWMedicine and our community volunteers and partners.
