To disregard proper portrayal of serious topics because it’s ‘just fiction’ is to strip the work of any profound meaning it could’ve had. You should probably take another look at your work if a victim speaking out about botched execution of what victimized them made you ‘very insecure’.

If you’d been paying attention to the world building of a show you claim to love oh-so-much, you’d realize how starting his own company through the ‘right and legal means’ would be near impossible. Imps are treated as second-class citizens; they are constantly dehumanized and treated as less than.

Hate to break it to you, but Spindlehorse was struggling to fund episodes themselves. Merch sales were down due both to the show’s decrease in quality and overall lack of interest. The entire reason the merger with Prime happened is due to lack of funding, hence its mention in the short.

This stuff can hurt and influence people, whether you think it’s stupid or not. A botched portrayal at a real issue (such as coercion) can assure people that their situation is normal; I have seen it happen. Again, fiction matters far more than any of you want to admit.
