How can we trust Scottish Labour to take buses into public control, when they take £100ks from private owners hell bent on stopping it? 🤔

🖊️Staff, students, and constituents across Edinburgh have written to me their concerns about the continued ties the University holds with Israel, and the repeated reluctance to divest.

This week I wrote to Peter Mathieson to ask what the University is doing to support all involved.

Tomorrow, Nigel Farage hand-picks Reform's Scottish leader.

If he can't trust his members to lead his party or select their MSPs, why should Scots trust Reform? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Folk want MSPs to stand up for them, not ex-Tory puppets in Parliament controlled by Farage ❌

If you think the problem in our moment is civility, is people being mean on the internet - as the president tramples the law, threatens our allies, makes war without Congress, invades our cities with murderous goons - you are a very great fool.

Less than four month til the election and Labour have so little to say they’re going to wave through the budget without trying to make it better, and *without having even seen it* 🤯

What even is the point of Scottish Labour at this stage?
Scottish Green MSPs have used budget negotiations to deliver free bus travel for young people, scrap peak rail fares, fund nature restoration, expand free school meals and more.

Labour have campaigned for nothing and achieved nothing.

Reform are driving hate and division in our communities.

We can't allow that to happen.

Life has become much harder for many folks across Scotland.

But the scapegoating and false promises from a millionaire-backed party will change nothing for the better.

Indeed. I would love to pretend I have shifted over here because of my superior virtue, but it's because frankly I would be better off writing my pieces' HTML address on a piece of paper, putting the paper in a bottle, and throwing the bottle in the Thames and hoping it reaches an FT reader.
Lost amid the discussion of why the Government should get off X is its utter uselessness as an engagement tool and the fact departments are wasting vast sums making content for it. Take this:

The River Almond is sadly polluted by sewage along its length, despite many people enjoying the waters at Almondell Country Park

We need more monitoring and sewage works upgrades to keep our river clean and swimmers safe.
Thousands of Scots will be dipping into waters today for a New Year's dook.

But in just 12 months, a reported 30 million litres of raw sewage were dumped into our lochs, rivers, and seas.

We're calling for urgent investment to tackle water pollution and clean Scotland's waters.
