🏀🎞️Alright! The Golden State Warriors got the win against the Lakers.

Here's a lot of my thoughts running through the game:

🏀📊 Cooper Flagg continues his development path:

He likes that short midrange pull-up and he's got the strength to find it - which will only increase as he has not yet turned 19!

In traffic, he seems to be getting better with his footwork and learning counters like extending into off-hand finishes.

🏀📊 2025-26 NBA Shot-Making:

↕️PTS+/FGA: Points added vs average according to shot tracking factors (closest defender, # of dribbles, shot clock remaining, time of touch)

↔️eFG% Differential: Based on shot location, eFG% versus average values for specific shot diet.

For all the bells & whistles, he clearly just wanted to do the job, breathe it in, bow out and leave. I respect that so much.

John Cena is a wrestler in the truest sense and a man who clearly believes that 'it' is bigger than yourself.

And a childhood hero for me. #ThankYouCena
10 year old me would not allow me to miss this one. It doesn't fit anymore bu I still have the merch at my mom's.

🏀📊 We are getting a new 'year of the calf', and I hate it!

Obviously bad news for the Lakers but let's use this checkpoint to see the absolute ridiculousness of offensive output from Austin Reaves to start this season:

🏀📊 Hey, I hope everyone is having a good day. I have been mostly silent as my health has sadly not been the best.

But I just wanted to drop something for its own sake: Here's a large comparison of Alex Sarr data from the last season and his performance in 2025-26 so far.

🏀📊 Ace Bailey is growing as an off-ball weapon with him showing positive trends as a finisher across all levels over the first few months of his career.

I keep my music and my podcasts separate so here's the mix of my Spotify wrapped as well as my Podcast Addict stats this year:

(Obviously, the more a podcast publishes the more they get listening time even if there are ones I like more but have less episodes)

1st day back from vacation and we get this.

The Clippers are already struggling with public perception because of Aspiration. To cut the greatest player of your franchise, in this manner denying him his final season in his own terms is unforgivable.

Chris Paul deserved better

🏀🎞️ A lot of what Anthony Black did in his career night against the 76ers was in transition during the 1st half

But he still showed enough as a driver in general that I feel a bit validated for this previous post...

🏀 With more responsibility, Amen Thompson gets fewer easy looks @ the rim w/o a playmaker beside him. And w/ KD out, spacing suffers further

Still, he went 6/11 from midrange v PHO & also had 8 ast, showcasing this dual role

And his playmaking metrics are quite impressive for one in this new role:

🏀📊 Shoutout Kel'el Ware because there has been a huge leap in his rebounding this season.

It's what one likes to see from someone of his size, coming off his rookie year and learning to use his size and build out his strength.

Peyton Watson will have a terrible turnover out of a lazy pass in every half and it's actually impressive that it keeps happening.

Fascinating player because he plays perfectly 80% of the time, but the other 20% can be really "loud" as mistakes go.

All the respect. Chris Paul at his best is one of the best players of the century. One of the greatest pick & roll operators and playmakers ever. And impact metrics will love him even more than I do.

Also a hell of a rival to always beat for a while in that Warriors run 😁
Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul is retiring after this season – his 21st campaign in the NBA. Paul is a 12-time All-Star, an 11-time member of All-NBA teams, a selection to the 75 greatest players list, nine-time All-Defense and the 2006 Rookie of the Year.

🏀🎞️ Shoutout to the great (& quickly developed) MPJ / Claxton chemistry.

The Nets also run these trendy 3-man elbow (or higher out) plays where a big passer holds as 2 guys screen for each other. And Nic can find MPJ on cuts or go hand off so he pulls up.

You get lots of in-flow handoffs as well.

🏀📊 Visualizing NBA offenses through behaviors of ball movement.

Plotting, at both team and player-level, passes attempted per ball touch x how many of those passes are directly leading to shot attempts.

Patterns of ball-swings vs pass-to-shot approaches - and how those mix - become visible.
