Dear Apple: Why have my two iPads and one iPhone consumed 3.5GB of my data plan in just over 24 hours solely through traffic to Apple servers?
I quit using Amazon tablets because I couldn’t control them.
iCloud is off, backups are off, unused apps deleted. OS Versions are all 17.x.

Thinking today of Princess Samuels, a 22yo woman who wanted to see the world and serve her country but was killed in Iraq. I happened to be at the Joint Personal Effects Depot when her property was being processed, 12 foot lockers filled with pink girly stuff & hello kitty backpacks. What a waste.

After you’ve owned a sailboat with lots of teak trim on it for a decade or more you come to appreciate the way dirt blocks damaging UV even better than varnish.

First time homeowners: if you’re like me you agonize over things to the point that you can become virtually paralyzed.

It happens like this: the people who know what he is fail to stop him because they want to use his power, they think they can control him. By the time they find out they can’t it’s too late.

Clearly impeding is legal at Monaco during the race but penalized during practice and qualifying. What a joke.
The mandatory 2-stop is a terrible solution to the problem of gaming by the teams — ban them from deliberately impeding the field to gain advantage for team mates.
Ugh..

When using arduino-cli on esp32 chips I use this script to reset the processor without causing the USB port number to change. This can be very handy, for example the script is named espreset:
espreset; tail -f /dev/ttyACM0
espreset; tail -f /dev/ttyACM0

For 2026 onwards F1 proposes to regulate fuel flow via it’s energy vs fuel mass or volume. How is this done? Anyone?
Engine output is reduced to 540bhp and the Motor Generator Unit is increased to 470bhp. Cars will be so much quieter the spec is changing to make them noisier for the fans.

IIRC that structure was built by Mussolini as tribute to and in celebration of Roman history as he pivoted Italy’s government to fascism.

It’s a small thing but I miss the old days when the Unix command:
cat ‘food in tin cans’
produced the correct output:
cat: cannot open food in tin cans

An hour ago in the Walmart egg isle a woman conversationally asked if I thought egg prices would start dropping now.
I patiently said no, they’re going up. Twenty million chickens died or were culled due to bird flu this year. It wasn’t Biden or the dems and T can’t fix it.

Well I now know that with outside temps below 10ºF my little 10kbtu heater runs continuously trying to hold 70º in my tiny cabin. I have bigger heaters but I’m too stubborn to go fetch one.
