I’m Melisa López Franzen, and I'm running for U.S. Senate.

I'm a mother, small business owner, UMN alum & former State Senate Leader. Minnesota deserves a champion who will fight fearlessly, tell the truth, never back down, and bring normalcy and common sense back to Washington.

Wildfires up north are a sobering reminder of how quickly conditions can change. We're deeply grateful to the first responders working to contain the flames and protect northern Minnesota’s communities, forests, and wildlife. Stay safe and informed. www.startribune.com/mn-wildfires...

I’m running for Senate because parents—mothers and caregivers alike—deserve leaders who put families first. From education to opportunity, I’m fighting for a future where every child can thrive and every family has a fair shot. Let’s build it together.

Yesterday I joined the Rotary Club at Matter in St. Louis Park for a service project with visiting Ukrainian doctors. Edina Mayor Jim Hovland greeted a Ukrainian combat medic—an inspiring reminder of service, resilience, and global community.

I'm not your typical politician, and I'm not running a typical campaign. No matter what we're hearing from DC, I'm working for you, your neighbors, and people in every corner of Minnesota.

Thanks to the CD 7 DFL for having me at their convention this weekend! They’re worried about where our country is headed, fed up with what they’re seeing in Washington, and ready to work together for a better future for everyone.

In Becker County with a great group of DFLers (in this wonderfully decorated garage) talking to them about how we can build a better future for everyone. No matter what's happening in DC, the opinion that matters most to me is that of the people of Minnesota - and that will never change.

The SAVE Act passed the House, and it's awaiting a vote in the Senate. This is a dangerous, unnecessary bill that will make it harder for millions of eligible Americans to vote.

Trump's tariffs are going to kill so many of our small businesses, and we can't allow it. They're fighting back, but we have to support them and demand Congress stand up to Trump's trade war. www.kare11.com/article/news...

An incredible vote of confidence from another leader in Minnesota. Thank you to Rep. Huldah Momanyi Hiltsley for being a part of the team!

Over the weekend, my hometown of Aguadilla, PR was honored at the Florida Puerto Rican Parade and Festival. It was so special to be there with Aguadilla Mayor Julio Roldán Concepción and Rep. Darren Soto to celebrate where I come from.

I went up to St. Joseph to speak with DFLers at the SD 13 Dinner. They’re fired up, fed up, and ready to show up and get to work building a better country for all of us.

A 2-year-old US citizen was deported with no meaningful process, and the courts say they don't know why. This is abhorrent, and we cannot allow it to continue. www.npr.org/2025/04/26/n...
U.S. judge says 2-year-old apparently deported to Honduras 'with no meaningful process'
The toddler, a U.S. citizen, was apparently sent to Honduras with her mother and 11-year-old sister, even as a federal judge tried to contact an attorney representing the government.

Trump's actions are straight from a dictator's playbook, and it's up to us to stop him.

The chaos and back-and-forth Donald Trump is putting on our government employees is unacceptable. It’s costing them and their families reliable healthcare, and they deserve so much better than this.

Carmen and I had a fantastic conversation about the needs of our farmers. I'm grateful for his support and ready to work for people like him every day in Washington.

Big thanks to Al Travis for having me on his radio show! We had a great conversation about why I'm running, how I'm talking to people in every corner of Minnesota, and the need for a government that meets the needs of everyone.

Donald Trump is coming for our elections. And our democracy.

He's going after ActBlue, one of the biggest platforms people use to give to Democratic campaigns. He's trying to break down the ways we have our voices heard in our elections, and we can't let him.

Honored to have the endorsement of Richfield School Board Member Rachel Banks Kupcho. She's a member of the Leech Lake Ojibwe and a tireless champion for our students and our Indigenous communities.

It was a beautiful day with Carmen Fernholz on his farm near Madison, MN! Like many farmers, Carmen is worried about Trump's tariffs and the rising costs that are impacting the agriculture industry. As Senator, I'm going to work to make their lives easier - not harder.

DFLers in CD 7 are fired up, fed up, and ready to build a better country for our seniors, our students, and everyone else across our state.

I met with a group of parents in Madison, MN (and stopped to say hi to Lou T. Fisk). As a mom myself, I share a lot of their concerns about the country our kids are growing up in, and I'm going to do everything I can to make this the best place possible for them.

I joined the Lac Qui Parle County DFLers over the weekend at their pancake breakfast. They're fed up with what they're seeing everyday in Washington, and they're ready to work for a better future.

National security is not a reality television show, and sensitive intelligence secrets are not for the family group chat.

This negligence puts our country and our service members at risk. Enough of the chaos, corruption and lack of accountability.

Pope Francis exemplified humility, empathy, compassion, and kindness. He was a champion for the most vulnerable to his last day and left an incredible legacy. He will be so deeply missed.
Pope Francis died at 88, the Vatican announced Monday, ending a pontificate that sought to reshape the Roman Catholic Church into a more inclusive institution. Cardinals will now decide whether to continue his approach or restore more doctrinaire leadership.
