i guess i could also ask whether the acceptance is more negatively formulated (i.e. "tolerant") or positively formulated (they want to know about other kinds of people and ways of life)

i wonder how peaky the distribution is here though, like, at my high school outside baltimore everyone was normal, whereas my at high school in rural pennsylvania one in ten students was like a junior klansman

There are many other ways in which the kids are not all right. Widespread concerns about reading comprehension are valid and threaten democracy in other ways. But in terms of being broadly accepting of racial and sexual diversity, the game's over, and the libs won. 2/2

if you have ever published a book? you do not need to name journal publications ever again. there are two and only two exceptions: 1) it was your small press debut and it's poetry magazine, respectively, or 2) you are a distinguished writer lending readership to a new journal that commissioned you

the rule for a "bio" should be

who you are, your medium, one-maybe-two accolades, and where someone can find your work.

If And Only IF you are advertising in advance, you can give a few words describing your work. if an audience is already in the room, why bother? they're about to find out anyway!

for "author bio", like, fifty words is probably ideal. greater than like 75 and it's like ok i didn't ask for your CV and fewer than like 15 and it's like ok i didn't ask for a middle finger
