It was a damp and chilly day for a wedding party to spend a long time outside getting photos made.

I found great enjoyment in the few moments when the photographers turned the cameras toward the groom, leaving the bride momentarily not the center of attention.

That bird evidently had had a rough Saturday night…

We were three blocks from home, on the way to catch a 6:00 pm flight to Tulsa, when we got a message that our flight was cancelled. So we drove instead. How can Oklahoma have tollways, constant road construction, and shitty roads ALL AT THE SAME TIME?

Y’all. This place.

It’s a combination mercantile, bar, cafe, and church (and that’s just the things I know about). And it also hosts the Texas Testicle Featival.

If this lizard thought he/she would scare me by looking particularly snake-like at first glance, then its plan was a success.

Maybe it’s just the way my brain works, but that pvc pipe working its way up the passageway and into the darkness feels rather umbilical.

I walked out after lunch to an absolute flurry of butterflies; it’s been a long time since I’ve seen more than two or three at once and I think there are fifteen or so in this image.

Also, butterflies (at least in my experience) are really not easy to photograph…

These concrete cherubs were doing hard work holding up one end of a bench. Maybe their task was made easier by the thin spider web that connected them.

is worth driving to Kansas.
I am not kidding!

I found this out-of-business store along the Llano River; I saw was this hand-lettered sign on the old front door. The spacing’s a little wonky and arc of “hours” isn’t quite centered. But it’s still there, doing what’s left of its job.

Helpful storage hint: if your closet or your linen closet is too full, consider storing your excess items right in the window. An added benefit is that the stuff that’s been stuffed in the window will help keep the cold winter drafts out of your house!

As awful as this fire scene was (was the family at home?) (was anyone hurt?) (what happened to cause the fire?) (how long ago did it happen?), I greatly enjoyed finding that mostly-intact ladle on top of a burned/melted/disfigured stove.
