Yeah, that's not the face of somebody receiving brand new information, it's the face of somebody bracing for impact. I'd have more respect for these people if they just admitted that they really like cash and don't care who they help hurt in pursuit of it

I do feel that art and the drive to make a thing that didn't exist before is fundamental to our humanity. The flattening and commodifying of that process feels like such a waste, people denying themselves their birthright as an inherently creative being

We discussed OG Tron in lectures for my animation degree. The glowy circuitry effect was applied by hand to each frame. Thousands of them. Laborious, exacting work. My whole class was spellbound and humbled by the precision and self-belief required to make that film happen

My wife works in software development and those salaries seem pretty low considering how important it is for something like this to work really, really well. They will likely not attract the really good, measurably effective candidates by offering so little.

I saw a guy defending it and saying the parameters of its existence should be subject to public consultation and not handed over to Palantir etc. The sheer *trust* that we'll get any kind of good faith say in any of that is quite startling to me. Feels naive

For me it's not just the taste, it's the texture too. I just can't with it. I like the idea of easy nutrition for hard days (so I don't just end up with junk or takeaway or something) but if I don't actually enjoy drinking it, it's not going to get the job done
