This is really hard to understand when we’re also eliminating the children’s librarian, who’s not only sharing the love of reading and curiosity, but also providing free interactive skills-building sessions and community engagement for kids who have zero access to that kind of program anywhere else.
You are loved. 🏳️‍⚧️
1/ In a time when trans and gender diverse people are facing rising hate and discrimination around the world, the recent decision by the UK Supreme Court to exclude trans women from legal protections under equality laws is devastating beyond words.

Live in #Ptbo and want to register your displeasure about the cuts with management and your councillor? Here's an easy way to do it: cupe.on.ca/library-with...
What is a library without librarians? - CUPE Ontario

This hurts my heart - my family has been regular visitors to the library for a decade now. Both my kids and I value the activities and programming, not to mention FREE access to books! It would be a huge disservice to the community to lay off these amazing people.
Fully grown dog in his prime (age three years) refuses to go down the deck stairs to the grass because it looked too slippery.
Returned to the door three times to register terror.
Finally came down the steps only with a Fellow Adult to supervise him.
Currently laying on his towel in shame.

Pic to appease the al gore rhythm - hey #Ontario folks: GO VOTE! It took me 3 minutes.

Can’t complain if you don’t participate.
😎✌️
Tell me you have kids without telling me you have kids.
I’ll go first:

I just saw a small square of toilet paper on my bathroom floor, folded into a paper airplane, carefully placed into the corner behind the door.

Hi! 🙋🏼‍♀️ Nice to see you around these parts!
Getting 150 non-profit agencies from across our huge province to come together like this is incredible.

The stats speak for themselves. We’re averaging 1.2 femicides per week - 62 in 1 year.

As our executive director said to several of our team members yesterday: "Women in Ontario cannot wait."
On the 35th anniversary of the École Polytechnique Massacre, 150 organizations working in the gender-based violence sector have come together to issue an open letter urging Ontario's government to stop delaying and pass Bill 173.

Meeting Lynn was one of those “kismet” moments in life. She offered to tell her personal story as a way to help gain community awareness and support for the YWCA.

When you read it, you’ll understand why this was one of the most moving interviews I’ve done.

Thank you Lynn for gifting us your story.
Lynn first left her husband in 1988 and came to the YWCA shelter. When she spoke with staff, she had a realization:

"I had never admitted to myself before that I was afraid."

Read the rest of Lynn's story and learn why your support is so important: ywcapeterborough.org/break-the-si...

Puppy is home!!! Thank you thank you to the amazing vets, ACAs, and vet techs at Kawartha Veterinary Emergency Clinic in #Ptbo.
My dog is staying at the emergency vet for the second night. So grateful for the care he’s getting but I just want him home. 😭
In unrelated news, I have built four (4) bookcases for the living room in my new house.
I am diagnosing myself with Book FOMO. Fear of missing out on any book even if my TBR pile has injured me when it topples over.
Fear of missing books.
FOMK.
