Found this film The Shape of Night and it was destined to be obscure until this random high def transfer. 1964 Japanese film to digital transfer is incredible. All the retained dirt. Shadows. The colors. OMG. Gorgeous. It’s melodramatic as 60’s get but also a sad dark spiral.

There’s a moment in the film that turns “home video” and her schizophrenic word salad performance is so fucking good. Her infamous scene is the subway scene, where she goes completely all out, but this specific section and her monologue is what sealed it for me as my favorite.

Rewatched after a long while. Such a maddening film. Sam Neil is insane. But Isabelle Adjani still delivers my favorite performance in a film. Over the last years, her performance has hit film twt, but she really goes all out. From 0 to 11 but it fits.

Film twitter has found their own Film Riho in Celine Song and Chloe Zhao. Two Asian women directors getting hate for simply existing and speaking. I haven’t seen any of their films but it’s pretty gnarly what basement dwelling film geeks will say (it’s worse than wrestling fans).
