worst part of modeling toon chars is that transition period of "wow this looks like crap" → "oh hey this looks okay now"
but getting stuck in that crap cycle for too long, :(((

I'm assuming most peoples actual opinion is that it was okay, but they're mad that what they wanted to see didn't show up (why was there so many people unironically believing in HL3? Valve didn't make it because they didn't want to, its joever lol)

I remember many years ago that it seemed promising, I've been hearing about the changes for a few days now and frankly I'm very confused how this even got greenlit.
