That’s a wrap! Great to be joined by Athabasca MLA Leroy Laliberte as we finished our Rural and Remote Healthcare Tour in Meadow Lake today. We’ve covered more than 2,700km these past two weeks and spoken to so many frontline nurses, physicians, and healthcare workers.
2/2 Healthcare professionals who serve this community care so much & are full of ideas about how to address these closures.
Leroy spoke to challenges for Northern people forced to access care far from their support systems & paying out of pocket to travel for care that should be available at home.
1/2 Even the home community of long-serving Sask Party MLA Jeremy Harrison, Meadow Lake, saw dramatic 936 closure days in 5 yrs. This is highest # of disruptions/2nd highest # of closure days in Sk.
As we know, obstetrics are a big one & resulted in Kendal Carlberg giving birth on side of road.
I truly thought the Sask Party would have no problem supporting our motion that Saskatchewan people should not be forced to access virtual care when *1. delivering babies* or *2. facing life-threatening situations.* But… nope. 🤯
Our Bill, the Sikh Heritage Month Act passed in the house today.
We’ve been trying to get this Bill passed since 2019 and while the events that led to the Sask Party finally voting in favour are troubling, this was a joyful day for our team.
Congrats to Bhajan and Tajinder who renewed the call! 💪
The Minister of Education just acknowledged he hasn’t signed the childcare agreement because the Feds won’t open it up to publicly subsidize for-profit childcare. 🤯
leaderpost.com/opinion/colu... The lack of transparency and commitment to accountability is troubling. This is what arrogance looks like in old govt’s.
