On my way to Toronto for #CPSA2025. I'm so excited to introduce @jonathanmalloy.bsky.social 's presidential address on June 3 (5-6pm)
Will be curious to see if Fergus remains
now that that's done... who's going to put their name forward for speaker of the house? My guess is d'Entremont

American debates need an equivalent of BQ. Like let the governor of a random state just be like “what will you do for Idaho?”
the last question should just be "Name a woman"

Secretly wishing they had cut away from the debate to cover this live…
Debates Commission has cancelled the post-debate scrums after this English leaders debate. This cancellation follows an altercation prior to the debate involving Rebel News and other journalists. #elxn45

The problem here is that voters are not getting any information they can actually understand or make sense of. 200K homes or 6 homes? Voters don’t get this and this is how polarization grows.

The @ecpr.bsky.social Gender Study 2024 just came in. I am shocked by the numbers. Especially dramatic is the percentage of women authors published in ECPR-journals: 26% in 2024, compared to 35% in 2023. Please, don't try to fix the women, fix the @##$! system.

hedge your bets for which comes first: Ontario provincial election or federal election

Yeah I do think there's a strong argument to be made that if it's antidemocratic to prorogue right now, it's also antidemocratic to force Canadians into an election where they don't even know the name of who is leading one of the main parties they might vote for!
One thing I'd add: there's no 'constitutional principle' that the Liberal Party should be expected to self-immolate by jumping into an election with no leader. If you're assessing prorogation as about 'fair play', I don't see why the immediate context isn't relevant.

🧵The University of Alberta has announced it is shifting from “EDI” to “access, community and belonging.” Based on my experiences researching inequality in higher education in Alberta, this is unlikely to have any benefits other than to appease the UCP.
