The save file screen for #MayGame is now fully functional.

Composed a small song for it and also several sfx using Furnace.

May's sprite will change depending on where you are in the game.

The pause/options menus have gotten a visual overhaul! Added icons and reused the parchment style of the map screen.

Still not 100% satisfied but this feels much better than the plain black and white windows from before.

The blue cricket shown in earlier clips will accompany May for a while! If you look closely at the start, you can see him perched on May's head. ^^

He is TIIIIINY. May can send him into cricket-sized tunnel mazes to help unlock new areas.

Like the games it's inspired by (Zelda:LA, For the Frog the Bell Tolls), I'd like to have some brief side-scrolling passages in this top-down game.

May's sprites, jump height, and gravity are the same as the top-down areas. So it should feel familiar.

This game will feature a sans-fish fishing minigame. Throw the hook, then steer it past obstacles by moving left and right (just like in real life! /s). Hook a truffle & reel it in!

The more optimal your upward reeling, the more you'll earn!

These are the very first two screenshots I have of #MayGame.

Display a grid, display a sprite, display text. That's it. That's all it was.

The game has come a long way since then. ^^

(Yes it was in 16:9 aspect ratio for one day.)

In #MayGame, May has two main ways to avoid enemies: whistling (stun) and jumping. This short clip shows off both.

Can a modern video options menu be crammed onto a tiny 160x144-sized interface? Yes it can!

This may get a visual overhaul later (I feel obligated to give it a happy cozy feel for some reason 🤔) but at least everything works! 😊️
