I still prefer the “Suzuki Touichirou is not human” interpretation.
He simply cannot give love to his wife and son.
I actually really like the idea that whether out of selfishness or fear, Suzuki pretends he has changed — but in the tiny details of daily life, that inhuman quality still leaks out.

I was imagining a Frieren-style Shimazaki×Minegishi… emmmm, of course those two could never be part of some ‘save-the-world hero party’… destroying the world sounds way more likely.

I always end up liking the villains…always.
But honestly, someone like Shimazaki is genuinely pretty great 😌. He doesn’t have any grand ambitions or anything… and I don’t mean that as an insult. It’s just that people like Suzuki tend to get trapped in this so-called “greater good” dilemma, you know?

To be honest, I’ve never really figured out how Shimazaki’s hair is supposed to work. I always end up drawing it like a hedgehog, and whenever I draw him I just pretend there’s some wind blowing. That way his slightly floaty hair looks like it has some kind of physical explanation…
