33 years ago today, the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Oakland A's 9-2 in Game 6 of the ALCS to win their first AL pennant and become the first Canadian team to advance to the World Series.

Joe Carter and Candy Maldonado homered.

Juan Guzman got the win and Tom Henke recorded the final out.

Please take a moment to remember legendary Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster Tom Cheek who passed away on this date 20 years ago at the age of 66.

He was the voice of my summers as a child.

42 years ago today, Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Lloyd Moseby scored a run in the bottom of the first inning against the Seattle Mariners to become the first Jays player to score 100 runs in a season.

The Blue Jays lost the game 9-6.

Moseby finished with 104 runs that season.

32 years ago today, Paul Molitor drove in his 100th run of the season for the Toronto Blue Jays in their 4-1 win over the Angels.

At 37 years old, he became the oldest MLB player to have their first 100-RBI season.

22 years ago today, Roy Halladay pitched a 10-inning, three-hit shutout for the Blue Jays to lead them to a 1-0 win over the Tigers at SkyDome.

With this, Halladay became the first MLB pitcher to throw an extra-inning shutout since Jack Morris in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series.

Of course, I remember exactly where I was when Joe Carter hit his World Series-winning home run in 1993.

I also realize that Carter did a lot more during his MLB career than hit that homer.

30 years ago today, Shannon Stewart made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays.

Batting leadoff and playing centre field, Stewart went 1-for-3 with two walks in the Blue Jays' 10-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox.

His first hit was a single off Wilson Alvarez in the fifth inning.

26 years ago today, after beginning the 1999 season with Cleveland, catcher Pat Borders signed with the Toronto Blue Jays.

His second stint with the Blue Jays lasted just six games. He went 3-for-14 (.214 batting average) with a home run.

Who is the most underrated professional Canadian baseball player?

A strong case could be made for Eleanor Callow, who was born on this date in Winnipeg in 1927.

She's the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League's all-time HR leader (55) and all-time triples leader (60).

She died in 1974.

Victoria Mboko was ranked 350th at the end of last year and played Challenger tournaments through the first four months of 2025.

The way playoff baseball is, I think him over Bassitt right now, and further decisions taken series by series. Has just shown more consistent command and every SP has to show up in a playoff start or it can be over fast.

20 years ago today, a 42-year-old Pat Borders caught 42-year-old lefty Jamie Moyer for the Seattle Mariners against the Detroit Tigers at Safeco Field.

That made them the oldest battery in MLB history.

It was also Borders’ final MLB game.

The Mariners won 9-3.
