I've studied dictatorships my entire life. Had I the money for law school, I'd have tried joining international prosecution initiatives against governments committing crimes against humanity. These don't happen overnight.

You can't blindly trust what you're told by anyone. HOWEVER, you are also NOT an expert. By asking these questions, you can FIND the experts.

We must do what we can to close the gates on misinformation and contain it within the echo chamber inhabited by these liars and willfully ignorant.

If you aren't sure it's true, don't show others.

Propaganda works by creating STRONG emotion in someone: shock, fear, pride, anger, empathy, etc.

Find trustworthy sources by asking:
Is the author an expert and NOT discredited by their peers?
Is it reviewed/published by their peers?
Is it recent?
Did the author benefit personally from the results of the work?
Who funded the research?
Who rejects the results? Why?
What else have they published?

It's okay to be duped. That's what they're trying to do. Fact/bias checking is a learned skill.

You don't have to know the details of EVERYTHING, but at least be able to spot red flags and ask questions.

Talk to others. Ask their opinions. Identify their bias. Research the facts.
