Again, in the spirit of an advent calendar, I decided to look for pictures I took on December 1st.

Here's December 1, 2022, in Colorado. My son's dog created art in the back yard and I had to document it to show him. As one does. Kind of a standing stone look.

Tahquamenon Country offers one of the best year-round treks in the Upper Peninsula. Crisp Point Lighthouse is a very remote beacon in the U.P. It stands tall on the rugged shore of Lake Superior between Whitefish Point to the east and Grand Marais to the west. For over a century, it's defied Lake Superior's powerful gales, bashing waves and blinding blizzards. Only 40 miles north of Newberry or Paradise, Crisp Point on a map appears to be an easy 45-minute drive--it is not. Expect this trip to take twice that amount of travel time. You need an all-wheel drive vehicle and steely nerves to make it here--but oh, the adventure is worth it!

Things true at once: we've had wonderful family time this holiday & my 98 yo mother-in-law is in the hospital with uncertain prognosis for surviving the next few days.

One thing I loved about my last neighborhood in Austin is there was a lot of street art. This one was a sweet one that emerged during the early days of Covid-19.

470 mil yrs ago, these rocks were mud & sand in the ocean near Africa, were eventually compacted into shale and sandstone, then squeezed between the two continents, melted, and the granite rose up to the surface.

Last week there was a #BlueskyArtShow challenge for #HidingInPlainSight. It was for self portraiture but this is a photo of my grandson playing in his backyard that would fit for portraiture in general. 😉

Sharing some out-the-window views of leaving the rain forest to head back to Texas for a few weeks. I love Hāna highway with the windows down and water and green everywhere.

Also, it's 7:37 pm here but after last night's red eye flight failed to render any sleep I'm thinking I'm soon ready for bed!

I hope #TextureTuesday is still a thing because I can't get enough of lava rock walls. This one at the "shortcut" through the hotel (way better than walking on the road).

From a walk on the Poudre River Trail in northern Colorado one February day in 2022.
