Fungi and other finds from a visit to the Great Wood near Keswick in the English Lake District last week - particularly exciting to find Hen-of-the-woods (Maitake) which I’ve never found before, it’s not common in the UK. Pen and watercolour sketches.

‘time in nature restores our spirits, calms our minds, and reconnects us with something essential and healing’

‘tha fois san nàdar’ #LearningGaelic
#naturewriting
Autumnal sunset from Beacon Fell, sun setting across grassland. Camera image has captured rays spreading out across the landscape. Grassland edged by pine forest.

Words ‘Tha fois san nàdar’ translates as ‘there is relaxation in nature’ (in my very basic learning of Scottish Gaelic)

Words ‘nature restores our spirits, calms our minds, and reconnects us with something essential and healing’ come from my writing.

Psithurism walk. The urgent susurration of wind through ash, the rushing sway across fell-land grasses, the tidal roar through pines. …

#Psithurism and #susurration - lovely words describing whisper of wind through leafs 💚 #noticingnature #dailynature #naturewriting
@rachelape.bsky.social hi, good to connect, was the quote montage yours?
Come the dawn, come the day, come the colours sienna, crimson with indigo, aerial isles under stratocumulus. Beyond the village cross crows arrive for daily gathering on bones of the ash. Are they feeling colours changing with seasons turn at September’s end 💚 #dailynature #naturewriting
Never seen apples so red & clustered as this. A result of earlier pollination & recent warm days, cooler nights. Seems neither have tits, blackbirds, thrushes who break-feast in morning mist. Below, fallen are pulled into natures soil cycle by earthworm bioturbation 💚 #dailynature #naturewriting
I think bottom right is cord moss but the red above it I am still working on id-ing (I like to think type of slime mold but could be a beech canker fungus 🤔) Any ideas welcomed!
An ancient conversation, a secret whispered, symbiosis in a micro metropolis … relishing in delights of exploring garden moss, lichen, slime mold and more in such a colourful micro ecosystem 💚 #dailynature #naturewriting

After a day of wet rinse cycle weather, we wake to call of wren, blackbird & pigeon. The rising sun cuts gold between clear cerulean bluesky and dark green of land. Later, as sunlight touches the top of the orchard trees, you can sense the apples stretching & smiling. 💚 #dailynature #naturewriting

Charcoal sketch of Bowland fells in Lancashire, capturing the blustery feeling.

Smooth fells sweep across the sketch, darker patches of outcrop or darker grass in left bottom corner.

Light breaks a steely grey, oddly balancing with another season imagery of Lark Ascending playing on radio. Land feels resting after gales, yet forecast has more storm before low temps & sun to mark coming equinox. A celebration of light/dark & reciprocity balance 💚 #dailynature #naturewriting
