“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” — Alice Walker

Even if you don’t feel it, every act of resistance matters. From where you spend your money to refusing to be silent, no act is too small.

Oh dear, what started as a bit of practice painting quirky characters is getting out of hand… I suddenly want to paint ALL the Australian animals drinking tea now…
Still undecided whether they need pretty backgrounds or to just let them be…

Saw a beautiful Indian ring necked parakeet earlier. It’s a little hard to tell from the photo, but it‘s a very pale shade of lavender. If you zoom in even the eye matches that shade! 😍

Five corporations control 90% of the US media market.

Airlines merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today.

Four giants control 80% of meat processing.

A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry.

The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

The #insects here at @casabentbill.bsky.social continue to amaze me. Nearly every day, I find some new, bizarre species. This is a weevil in the genus Siron, which I know nothing about. So I'd love to hear from any #bugsky weevil experts!

Had to go over to Unst today to pick up my car that’s been there all autumn. Took the opportunity to go to look at 2 Long eared Owls, managed to find a third bird there as well!
Best I could do in dull light, the other 2 were even more obscured.#Shetlandbirding

It’s amazing that the House passed the Epstein Files Transparency Act. But even though the bill bans redactions for embarrassment or political reasons, it still includes several exceptions that could allow key names to be withheld:
