I am enjoying reading the comments section of complete of utter bellends spouting the same old nonsense that the video explains away. As they say you can’t fix stupid.
What’s purple with veins standing out? 😳
It is good advice to back everything up, you should be doing that anyway (3 separate places or more). Also try to start getting your files into non-propriety file formats if possible.
I won’t pretend it will be easy for everyone but a bit of prep will make the transition easier.
I have used Ubuntu for years now on my home PCs, I still have to use Windows for work. My view is get some distros on a live USB and try them out, Mint and Ubuntu are seen as good starts but also look at Debian, Fedora, Arch and Manjaro.
I wish! If I could then maybe recoup some of the “investment” into that wall full of heavy plastic!
Of course I am a massive hypocrite because I hoard vinyl records and proudly display them in a shrine made out of IKEA Kallaxs! 🤣
It’s surprising when you have a disability the amount of people that think you are putting it on. Recently I had a taste of this with an eye problem, I was effectively going blind. Even people close to me thought I was “bunging it on” when my nose was nearly touching the screen to see it.
One of the reasons for my skepticism over nu-commodore is the fact that they could not survive just making hardware and paying investors, they would have to make lots of cash by licensing and IP. It’s only a matter of time before they start going after established small retro businesses for a slice.
It has changed. It used to be a niche hobby where the kit was cheap and knackered but rewarding to now a game of accumulating stuff and boasting how much it’s worth. I know that’s what most collecting hobby’s are but I like the interaction with the old machines and how they worked, not the value.
Basically some swimmers use AI to find tide times and come a cropper.
What amazes me is there are plenty of resources to get tide times, they are even still printed on paper so why use chatGPT to give you a tide time? Seems absolutely insane to me as a swimmer.
This is the correct summary of the story, but blimey you have to scroll to find it, talk about burying the lede
Two people check tide times with ChatGPT, almost die.

Over the years I have lost any shred of respect for a most of the retro YouTubers, a lot of the content is sensationalised rehashed stuff that just goes round the houses. It’s turned into a grubby little cartel where they try to protect each other.
After 1975 this was less of a problem.
My friends pub in Bristol UK still has original gas lamps with mantles, they give off a beautiful light and he can get away with it because they are grandfathered in. It’s called the Bag Of Nails and it’s known as the “Cat Pub” because a lot of cats live there.
I like the idea of them but they haven’t got it right yet.
Trouble is it will be all so predictable, they might be a small surprise here and there but they will all revert to type. They won’t do anything really interesting with it as most of the audience just want Inbetweeners like they remember but just older.
So the owner of the cafe decided to dedicate some tables for customers with laptops and you being so entitled feel you can make your own rules. Sounds like somebody feels inadequate and needs to get a win in life not matter how pathetic.
We are a data team, we have no on premises servers so it’s done remotely. We still do 1 day a week in office to “collaborate” but as it’s now too small to accommodate everyone most of the people we need to talk to WFH so we end up using Teams anyway to talk to them. It’s all a bit pointless.
If you see this, share a pic from your device with no explanation

I read that wrong to start with, missed out the “o”.
Welcome! I live on the North coast (Redruth) and although sun is nice I also like the rugged coast when it’s more overcast and wild.
It’s all about the chat. I am not handsome or good looking in any sense but Ive found that having good chat and a personality (corny I know) goes a long way. Try not to be negative even about you. Being self deprecating can be funny but theres a fine line between being charming and negging yourself.
I bought a bass made of Luthite (a type of plastic) years ago because it was light and looked cool thinking to only use it live. I found it sounded just as good as my wooden basses and used it as my primary bass even for recording. The tone comes from the pickups and the electronics.
They are nutters, but what I find funny is the guitarists that take the piss out of audiophiles and then bang on about tonewoods which is the guitar equivalent of healing crystals.
