The Blackhawks know this season will include a lot of learning for Artyom Levshunov. Part of that process will sometimes be sitting games, which happened on Saturday against the Canadiens.

Artyom Levshunov plans to go on the defensive after scratch: Blackhawks observations
Levshunov was a healthy scratch in the home opener against the Montreal Canadiens — a 3-2 Blackhawks loss.

Games in Europe and multiple Monday night games are making NFL RedZone a lot less fun in the late afternoon.

PPR leagues are stupid. There, I said it.

Kenneth Gainwell has five catches for 10 yards. He does not deserve as many points as a guy who ran for for 60 yards.

(I'm not playing against him. He's on my bench. So this isn't sore-loserdom!)

I played it for like a month when we got a Switch at the start of Covid. It was amazing, then quickly I got bored of it. I shouldn't have to Google that I have to aim an arrow into the sun at exactly 2:37 p.m. in order to find a shrine.

I was under the impression that you spend far more time watching lengthy cut scenes and scavenging for food than actually killing zombies.

My daughers are starting to play Minecraft. All these "sandbox" games where you have to cook or watch cut scenes or do nothing most of the time — Minecraft, Animal Crossing, Last of Us, even Breath of the Wild — are lost on me. Just give me a mission and a giant spiky turle man to kill, would ya?

Artyom Levshunov and Ivan Demidov will always be linked in Blackhawks fans' eyes. In the long run, it could be a fair fight. As 19-year-olds, though, it's a battle Levshunov is unlikely to win. Some perspective, and some observations, with @scottpowers.bsky.social:

Artyom Levshunov is keeping an eye on Ivan Demidov, too. But it'll be years before we really know if the Blackhawks made the right call. Cut the kid some slack.

Jeff Blashill had no problem with Louis Crevier's response to the Guhle hit on Frank Nazar, saying, "We'll do that all day, every day."

"We're going to look after each other, and we're going to fight for each other."

Jeff Blashill suggested it was a good night for diving based on the officiating, but said, "We're not going to be a team that goes down light. We're going to be a team that palys through it."

FINAL: Blackhawks drop a kick-in-the-gut 3-2 decision to Montreal. Juraj Slafkovsky's redirect with 15 seconds left was the difference. Chicago killed off eight of 10 Montreal power plays.

GOAL: Habs take a 3-2 lead with just 15 seconds left. Ooooooooof.

Two minutes left in a tied inter-conference game. We're heading into what @christopherhine.bsky.social termed "Gentlemen's Point" territory.
marklazerus.bsky.social
It's been a very silly game. And the Blackhawks have been sloppy.
marklazerus.bsky.social
Is he noted or known? This is important.
marklazerus.bsky.social
It's comically early and I don't know if it'll be reflected in the standings, but the Blackhawks seem to be a hell of a lot more watchable this season. They're fast and they're scrappy. After the last few years, that's not nothing.
marklazerus.bsky.social
Nazar draws a hooking penalty (after apparently much deliberation by the ref standing right in front of the play). Blackhawks to the power play at 5:31 of the third, tied 2-2.
marklazerus.bsky.social
Habs get their 10th power play as Connor Murphy trips Anderson, who flies into the 200 level to draw the call.

DJ Oreo plays the same setlist every time. There. I said it.

Yeah, that's the centennial jersey.

END OF PERIOD 2: This doesn't seem like a winning strategy, but the Blackhawks are somehow tied 2-2 with the Habs.

Goddammit, you scooped me!
