A bit more work featuring Tunstall beach on the Yorkshire Coast, as the Royal Observation Corps nuclear monitoring bunker, built in 1951, makes its final journey due to coastal erosion.
There’s more ROC Tunstall work on my website (link in bio).

Tunstall ROC bunker fell into the sea last week. It was 100m inland when it was built in 1951. Parts of the Yorkshire coast are eroding at nearly 2m a year.

Finally starting to get on top of the work pile and the life issues that have been swallowing my time up for the last few months and getting back to some project work.
Tunstall, on the Yorkshire coast is a perfect example of a settlement that’s struggling against the erosion of the coastline.

A little bit more from my Yorkshire Coastal project, please feel free to take a look - comments welcome (mostly).

The Last days of Tunstall ROC Bunker — Mark Hillyer
Images from my documentary photography project to show the scope of coastal erosion on the Yorkshire Coastline: When Tunstall ROC was built, it was 90-100m back from the cliff top, safe from erosion. ...

A bit of project work today. It was good to get out of the house and put the last month into perspective after mums funeral yesterday.

Walking back from the station the other night, I saw this rather splendid beast. Petrolheads will be salivating :-)
I've never actually been anywhere in one - do they feel as unstable as they look?

Boxing Day walk in the woods - took the Polaroid camera. My home made pocket film warmer seems to be working well :-)

It's that strange time of the year when work winds down for the holidays.
I used the time this morning to post some photos of a dog walk. Probably not the most productive use of my newly discovered free time.

How do I fill the time when work finishes for Christmas and doesn't start agin until next year? Why can't I motivate myself? All images on Leica M11 with Voigtlander 35mm f1.5 lens.

I took two photos a second apart, that look like the untying of a fish knot.
I could sit and watch fish for hours.

I feel like my 10yr old daughter has buggered up my batting average here…

I think I’ve worked out a way of improving the results I’ve been getting with Polaroid film, by putting a hand warmer in the pocket of my bag that I put the exposed photos in - the green cast has gone!!

The transformative power of sunlight. As a bit of golden hour sun hits this silver birch tree, it changes into a different scene altogether. Over winter, I feel like the tree!
There was less than ten seconds between these images.

You know you’re old when there’s elements of your childhood in a museum!! Not the TV - they’d moved on a bit by the time my memories started, but that wallpaper - I remember that stuff!!

Riverside walk in York. The Foss is really overgrown this year. Going back in my memory, in the 80’s it always used to be more like a swamp than a river. It used to look like you could walk across it

From a recent trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Giraffes make me anxious. They always look like they’re one bad step away from a broken leg!

The woods where we walk the dog are quite photogenic. I’ve not had time to do project work in the last few months, so I’ve had to settle for carrying my camera wherever I go and grabbing what I can. There’s a whole blog post of October images on my website (link in bio) #photography #thephotohour
