The biggest barrier to social cohesion in this country is this: a news agenda framed by a stream of pseudo-research “reports” from right wing think tanks with the pre-determined conclusion that immigrants and Muslims are intrinsically a threat to our country.

Newsletter from @talkingpicturestv.bsky.social informs me that not only are they showing "Sergeant Cork" soon, but they'll have some specially shot intros from William Gaunt. Fantastic. "Cork" is a superb series. Don't miss it.

It is incredibly rare and courageous for a career official to resign and speak out. Michael Feinberg was an FBI official until last week. He joins me tonight. Lots of qs. And he wrote this eye popping piece about what happened: www.lawfaremedia.org/article/good...
Goodbye to All That
My resignation from the FBI.

Kristi Noem didn’t approve FEMA rescue teams for over 72 hours after the Texas floods, following a rule she imposed that required her personal sign-off on any operation over $100K.

This is inexcusable. She should resign.

Well done to the broadcasters who have spent so long doing the PR for the far right in this country - I hope you won’t pretend it was nothing to do with your valiant efforts if we get a far right government- it is important that your contribution is remembered

Extraordinary night last night. Me and the Dodges played Murnau's City Girl to a sold-out 750-seater Opera House in the Tyrol.

Reading is transformative so I’m 100% behind a National Year of Reading but instead of shaming parents/carers (“put our phones down and pick up a book”) let’s focus on access and choice for children. That includes reversing library closures and funding cuts. #readingforpleasure
A National Year of Reading will take place in 2026 aimed at curtailing the reading crisis among children and young people. The initiative was launched by education secretary, Bridget Phillipson ahead of a reception to be held at 10 Downing Street 👇 #BookSky

😬
when a senior scholar is somewhat cranky
Great article. I started with a second-hand copy of Guards! Guards! and never looked back. It's the sheer humanity of his writing, it courses through every sentence, his multi-special City Watch follows naturally; Vimes is a hero for all times.
And also, it's why Johnson could not understand it.

Remember this screening. Mr Cox has a lot to answer for. For which I'm very grateful.

U.S. Military Speaks Out Against Trump Deploying Marines to LA

After Trump deployed Marines to Los Angeles, this military member joined an anti-ICE protest in Dallas, declaring, 'We won't be pawns in stripping away constitutional rights.'
As a twice-yearly visitor to film festivals in Italy, I hope for London to, say, Venice or Bologna one day. Would settle for Milan....
