Any interest in “stocking stuffer” of 100 Topps cards (all diff.) from 1978-80? Many available. Some stars. I just need $7 to cover box and postage. I pick cards (too much work otherwise, sorry) though I will listen to “my son loves the Yankees”. (Someone sent me huge box 20 years ago.) DM me.

Watching the Chargers game, and their running back Kimani Vidal. He is referred to as Hank Aaron’s grand nephew. Does anyone know specifically how they are related. Like “Hank’s sister’s grandson” or something? Thanks.

Searching the Sporting News archive from 1965 through 1969, the name "Bob Clemente" shows up 2 times, "Bobby Clemente" 0 times, and "Roberto Clemente" 794 times. Whatever their reasons, Topps went against the grain when they used "Bob" every year from 1957 to 1969.

The 2003-04 Red Sox and Yankees met in the ALCS twice, split 14 games. Many turned on unlikely acts (good and bad). There are 50 books, movies, documentaries about these teams, nearly all finding character, choking, heroism, gutlessness. Play those games again and who the hell knows what happens?
Personally, I find post-season baseball more fun *because* there are often no overarching conclusions to be drawn. Who has played the best this week? Blue Jays? Who is the best team? Dunno. Who is going to win Friday? No idea, can’t wait. There have been some incredible plays this week. It’s cool.
Mainstream baseball analysis basically consists of people pretending to have memories of goldfish and acting as if their insights are significant. The genre does not allow for simple "hey, that happened, wasn't that a hell of a thing?" observations, which basically cover it all in the postseason.

The long 2018 game World Series game, which also ended on the first batter of bottom of the 18th but had much LESS action (30 total H+W, as opposed to 50 last night) took FORTY-ONE more minutes. If you’re still wondering about the pitch clock.

Satchel Paige pitched in Devil’s Lake, ND, in May 1935 during his summer with the Bismarck Churchills. I would like to think, for obvious reasons, that he dined here.

Looking forward to the Series. The world is shitty, it’s getting dark at like 2 in the afternoon, I love baseball, I don’t have a big like/dislike for either team —> low stress, occasional attempts to give a shit about football fail miserably, no family crises appear imminent. Bring it on.
