for those (like me) unfamiliar with AFP Fact Check, it's a department within Agence France-Presse, a multilingual news agency guaranteed independence under French law. (yeah, I know we have the First Amendment here in the USA. um.)

A terrific AFP fact check uses reverse image searches to expose how a White House video took scenes from Florida, Texas, South Carolina and Nebraska and lied that they showed "Chicago is in chaos."

We cannot condone political violence.

That said, it’s important to remember that Republicans have demanded that the Second Amendment be interpreted to mean anyone who wants a gun can get one, including assault weapons.

As Charlie Kirk recognized, that comes with a downside.

Defense of democracy seen as basic to the job.

Symmetrical accounts of asymmetrical realities seen as malpractice.

“Politics as strategic game” frame seen as low quality, downmarket, amateurish— and overmatched.

Bad actors with a history of misinforming the public seen as unsuitable sources and unwelcome guests.

Internalizing of the “liberal bias” critique seen as self-crippling, a historic mistake in need of correction.

OK, Ikea. (PAVERE!)

Sign in Ikea with the headline, "Make your kitchen work for you" and the copy, "Kosher dietary guidelines ban certain food pairings--particularly the pairing of meat, dairy and pavere. Use these cutting boards to help you keep them apart." The word is "pareve," not "pavere," and it means neither meat nor dairy, and therefore fine with both. You do not need a pareve (or pavere) cutting board.

I just called the pharmacy to refill a prescription and ended the call with "thank you" and the pharmacist replied, "love you!" and hung up and in case she's spiraling rn I want her to know we've all been there
