Aussie with a massive backlog dating back to 1996. Working through it using OG hardware! - Avatar by Kev Bayliss

Yup… it’s like a regular old A4 sheet of paper that folds out and you have to read it like you’re navigating an old paper map. The text is also tiny. I prefer the U.S manuals the most tbh, but they’re super expensive to import.
That’s what we got here in Australia from Sega Ozisoft. Our manuals were honestly kinda crappy
I return to 16-bit with Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle (Sega, 1989)

The 1st Mega Drive game after the Master System was discontinued in Japan (Fortunately it saw continued support til ‘96 in the West, so I’ll alternate between 8-bit & 16-bit per release date) #sega #alexkidd #megadrive #retro
My 11th Master System game: Ys: The Vanished Omens (Sega, 1988).

Think Zelda but with experience points. It’s good! Also has a save battery. One of the last games released for the Master System in Japan.
The TurboDuo remake of this was great. Very good game.

My 10th Master System game: Golvellius - Valley of Doom (Sega, 1988).

An MSX Compile game ported to the Master System by Sega with enhanced graphics, basically a mix between Zelda 1 & Zelda 2, with top down and side scrolling sections.

Jack Bros is also pretty high up there, also going for several thousand dollars. This may be our only chance of seeing the unreleased (but finished) Dragon Hopper or G-Zero for the Virtual Boy
My 9th Master System game: Phantasy Star (Sega, 1987)

A 4 Megabit (512KB) cartridge with a save battery, this game was a lot more expensive than regular Sega games at the time. This RPG should last me a while!

My 8th Master System game: Quartet (Sega, 1986)

I ordered this over a month ago, but postage from the U.S is expensive & very slow. I couldn’t find a local copy!

This is my first 2 player game! The arcade version had up to 4 players #sega #mastersystem #segamastersystem #retro #retrogaming #8bit
My 7th Master System game: Wonder Boy in Monster Land (Sega, 1988).

This sequel takes Wonder Boy in a different direction. No more cute dolls, fruit or milk. Now it’s swords, armour, shields, labyrinths and fire breathing dragons!

My 6th Master System game: Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars (Sega, 1988)

A “Two Mega” Cartridge. Two whole Megabits!

This game has voice samples, mostly Alex going “AHHHHHHH!” every time you get hit or fall off a cliff.

My 5th Sega Master System game: Aztec Adventure (Sega, 1987)

An adventure game where you can hire companions by throwing money in their face! #sega #segamastersystem #mastersystem #retro #retrogames #8bit #retrogaming
My 4th Master System game: Penguin Land (Sega, 1987)

The first cartridge game to use a save battery, beating Zelda by just 4 days. Bring the egg down to safety without breaking it, with 50 levels in total. #sega #segamastersystem #mastersystem #retro #retrogames #retrogaming #penguinland #8bit
My 3rd SMS game: Alex Kidd in Miracle World!

This was expensive to find as a cartridge ($300AUD). Also had to import from the UK. Sega’s mascot before Sonic. People call him “Alex The Kid” by mistake all the time for some reason… #sega #segamastersystem #retro #retrogames #retrogaming #alexkidd
My 2nd Master System game: Ghost House (1987). A launch title released on both Sega Card & Cartridge where you punch bats. #sega #retrogaming #retro #retrogames #segamastersystem #mastersystem #ghosthouse
I also miss when the net was for people who posted for the hell of it. To share something neat. Not for likes, subs, engagement & algorithms. People hoped someone somewhere would like it. It was unscripted & improvised. If a video got 1,000 views that was seen as huge. I miss that internet…
My Sega journey begins; my very first Master System game arrived today: Wonder Boy! First of many games to come.

I’m almost 40 years late, but I’ve finally got my hands on a Sega Master System #sega #retroconsole #segamastersystem #retrogaming
Behold: one of the rarest games in the entire #SuperNintendo library: #MegaManX3 (PAL).

I’ve been saving up for years to get my hands on this one.

By far the most expensive piece in my entire collection. I’m done with #SNES stuff for a while, my wallet needs a rest! #SuperNES #retrogaming
Few people will truly appreciate the latest addition to my video game library.

What happens when you leave me unsupervised with access to adult money. My wallet hates me 😅

And people complain about $80 games? Try being a retro collector! #retrogaming #megamanx3 #jackbros #gamecollecting #retrogamecollecting #SNES
My 12th PSX game arrived today: Destruction Derby (20/10/1995).
I don’t know much about it, only that it was recommended to me (and it’s by Psygnosis)

Anyone else ever buy a game purely based on recommendations? #ps1 #retrogaming #playstation #destructionderby #retro #psx
It all makes sense now 👀
When I was 8 we traded in a Nintendo 64 with 30+ games all in excellent condition as dad always kept the boxes on the top shelf. Traded it all in for a GameCube & Luigi’s Mansion. Noooooooooooo
My latest SNES game arrived today: Tetris Attack (28/11/1996)

Featuring Yoshi and having absolutely nothing to do with Tetris, this is better known as Puzzle League these days. #tetrisattack #snes #SuperNES #yoshi #SuperNintendo #retrogaming #retrogames #retrogame #retro #puzzlegame #90s
