I registered a new @tuta.com e-mail address that I wanted to start paying for shortly after grabbing the username, but Tuta got weird on me, immediately after registering the account. That’s not a great way to start a new relationship!

I just completed a deep dive on @proton.me and @tuta.com, specifically comparing their respective end-to-end encrypted e-mail services, and while Proton Mail today is more popular, Tuta Mail offers better value for your money, with respect to how they've architected absolute privacy and security.

I’d say look to Apple for UI guidance. They do a great job in keeping things minimalistic, yet robust to be feature-rich. If you want to stay in the lane that you currently are in, in terms of being more bare-bones, then I’d advise your team to study Fastmail, which is the best UI/UX for e-mail.
