Is it almost spring where you live? It’s not even close here, but maybe you need a #dandelion cake recipe to save for when those little yellow flowers start popping up in your lawn!

I’m debating what kind to get so I’ll look into your recommendation. In the past I’ve mixed my own coconut coir, vermiculite, perlite and compost. But it’s too cold to do that now so I’ll start with a bag of premixed.

It’s a pain to set up the lights but it works and I don’t want to invest in changing it. I need a rest after this phase lol!

I’m just a grandma in the city trying to do my part. Today I brought out the heat mats and grow lights and started setting up my seed starting shelves. Next up find some starter soil! #urbangardening #urbanfarming #garden

Just found out I’m on the 2025 Forbes 30 Under 30 list in Social Media!

4 years ago, I started calling out racial biases in medicine. Since then, I’ve spoken globally, worked with the White House, host a podcast and soon, I’ll start residency. One post can spark change. 🙏🏾✨ #ForbesUnder30

Kodachrome slides from the 1960s. I learned to garden with my father and grandfather here. I just love the depth of the old colors.

I’m very nostalgic today so I’m posting this photo. I had some of my grandfather’s Kodachrome slides converted to a dvd. He was an avid gardener all his life. I am playing the dvd and took this picture with my iPhone from my tv screen.

Another snow day ❄️🥶❄️
January 6, 2025 at 1:56 PM
It’s a cold, icy and snowy morning here and I believe our squirrels have a challenging day ahead.

At one point we had 6 mourning doves close to our back door. Official bird count at the feeder today was 6 mourning doves, 3 cardinals, 8 starlings, 8 juncos, 2 song sparrows, 2 downy woodpeckers and 2 purple finches.

We are experiencing a snowstorm here today and tomorrow. We stocked the feeder with birdseed and put suet out for the birds. Peanuts are out for the squirrels. Our first visitor today was a mourning dove.
