(They/Them)
Meandering geology student seeking the next adventure. Desperate to explore, forced to study. Happiest barefoot in a lake, listening to folk music, with good books, good vibes. and no sense of time.

This is just fun stuff! Plotted measurements from most recent field work that haven't been added to my full map yet.

It's not pretty (corner fault caused some suffering). Each number aligns with a hand sample and/or thin section. We needed to use them to understand the full geologic story. Also needed to 3 ternary diagrams. Genuinely so proud of this "A-level work"! New rocks and map for each new petro class.

Someone suggested we call the students we tutor, "beans" because they have to get "tuted" 😂

Thankful to be in my last year of undergraduate and to have had so many wonderful professors over the past four years whose influence will be seen in my eventual teaching style.

A bit of a lonely Thanksgiving this year, but that happens. I have a roof and I am having dinner with Kirsten tomorrow.

"Unbeknownst to these slow-moving sediments, oceanic crust was being violently thrust beneath this quadrangle through subduction!" I hope Clem finds this amusing!

Story Time: Last spring, I took petrology. I was in the middle of a large final project when chemo began. My professor worked so hard with me but I could not understand. Finally, one awful day, I was in the lab working on this project and started and shaking. I was too sick to be doing this. 1/n

Empty apartment building with everyone gone for break is not my favorite thing. Too similar to this past summer. Today will require a lot of coffee!

some of the resources in this Smith College petrology textbook are lifesavers. Petrology during chemo did not go super well, so I am relearning a lot and my professor has given me great tools!

It sucks beyond belief to be excited about grad school prospects but have professors and doctors bring up the very real factor of, "percentage of life expectancy." Factoring losing Medicaid in this decision and I don't know how to make choices about any of it! Field work really hit hard I think.

One year I'll have a Thanksgiving break from the school I teach at and will spend the holidays in my own home with my girlfriend and our seven cats. 😸😹😺😻😼😽😾👭 Just not there yet.

Learning how to look at these and see a stories like panels in a comic strip, noting their placement in time by where we collected them. Slowly getting a grasp on this.

much to be thankful for this year.
-I'm thankful to have professors willing to put in extra work to make sure I get through
-To have Kaylee and Tilda make sure I have food and Christmas
-To have friends to share a meal with
-To have a roof over my head and clean clothes
-To be in remission!

Did you know that only 10% of first generation college students go to graduate school? Only 8% of non-traditional college students go directly to graduate school after undergraduate? How much of this is lack of interest and how much of this lack of proper support structures in place?

Hydrating, time, and relearning are all parts of recovery. Have to hydrate to recover from the liver damage. It amuses me that I randomly got a text from a professor that just read, "HYRDATE!". Also, frustrating that this was definitely helpful.
