A student told me today that their friends call me their fairy gay-mother. 🥹 Best title ever. Excuse me while I go add that to my LinkedIn...

My students and I adore Nick Brooks! PROMISE BOYS has spent the last 2 years perpetually checked out. My teens eat it up! 📚
This pretty much sums up my philosophy of education, especially on this first-day eve.

I was chosen as a KQ blogger this year! I've been wanting to for a long time, and I'm excited to be doing it alongside @rgrov1013.bsky.social. I can't wait to see what we each put out into the world.

Here is my debut blog. Enjoy reading about becoming a learner again! 😁 #TLSky #Skybrarians

I get it. Libraries are expensive, and librarians are expensive. Our students & future leaders need all of the information literacy, media literacy, and opportunities to read deeply and widely they can get. Curriculum won't save us, testing won't, & AI sure as Hell won't. Fund libraries. #TLSkyChat
This article has some great takeaways abt teens' media literacy for librarians and educators. My takeaway: the power of peer fact checking

My byline is back for the first time in many moons. I wrote about teenagers, conspiracy theories and what it was like when social media rumors became personal and painful at an Oklahoma high school.

TREVOR PROJECT HOTLINE - UPDATE

I deleted my post about the Trevor Project's hotline—see: @emceebois.bsky.social's clarification ⬇️. Please share the clarification far & wide.

And if you need to talk:

Hotline: 1-866-488-7386
Text: Text ‘START’ to 678-678
Chat: www.thetrevorproject.org/get-help/
CLARIFICATION :

The Trevor Project's hotline will still be live. But basically this means LGBTQ people can no longer be connected to it through the US national 988 suicide prevention hotline.

They will need to be contacted DIRECTLY

So spread this around

They can be texted. They can be called.
My team and I were chosen for the Library Luminary Award by our district library leaders! It is only given to 1 library in the district (of about 200) each year, and we are so very honored. Who knew that hanging out with teenagers and being absolutely ridiculous could earn awards? #Skybrarian
