This was a present from a language school teacher in 2018 & I've never really tried my hand at it 😊 but since I'm now reading Mark Lewis's history of the Qin & Han dynasties I thought it might be cool to try a short text. Any study tips? I have no classical teaching...

Labour's anti-asylum policies are already fundamentally inhumane and discriminatory. Applying them retrospectively is pure cruelty though. It serves absolutely no purpose. Meanwhile it will increase the costs and bureaucracy of an already dysfunctional Home Office.

Anna's Archives is, AFAICT, like LibGen, although with a subscriber model. Such sites seem to have sprung up as a response to academic publishing, where research gets gate kept for uji libraries & the very wealthiest of independent scholars. It sucks if it's being used to undermine fiction writers..

Several reasons why we don't talk about British state oppression in Malaysia but one weird detail here is that the Malaysian Chinese anti-colonial resistance were branded bandits & terrorists for *insurance reasons* (avoiding UK gov having to do payouts to rubber firms instead of private insurers)
Malaya was described by one British Lord in 1952 as the “greatest material prize in South-East Asia”, mainly due to its rubber and tin. These resources were “very fortunate” for Britain, another Lord declared, since “they have very largely supported the standard of living of the people of this country and the sterling area ever since the war ended”. He added: “What we should do without Malaya, and its earnings in tin and rubber, I do not know”.
