Treat other people like actual humans and not just a number, and don't expect a friendship just because of frequent interactions. Some of us just don't have the spoons for more connections.

I've been asked before by newer/younger artists about how to get popular or meet other artists.
My answer is "please do not make popularity your focus when creating art." It's going to leave you frustrated and feeling empty when you create artwork. It'll suck the fun out of it.

📈If it's for numbers/gratification: You do you, hop on trends, but understand some creators won't want to engage with you because of differences in goals.

i guess this is also a reminder for me dgsjshsk no one's attacking me ofc but lately i've been getting hit with that feeling that i should be doing something "better" and more original,,,, ouughg
if anybody makes you feel bad about writing fanfic and how it doesnt count as "real writing", just remember that one of the most anticipated movies of 2025 is an adaptation of a musical based on fanfic of the wizard of oz. you're golden
