I don't come from the literary power centres of India viz. Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta, Madras. If it's a disadvantage, I looked past it. But my moment of redemption has arrived in the form of my current home becoming Wales's first UNESCO City of Literature! <3

Rhys Hughes' plays are being performed at the Volcano Theatre in Swansea today!
Looks like not giving Rushdie the Nobel is a Scandinavian tradition.
Not only was she not offended by this, Jane Goodall wrote a foreword to Gary Larson's book following this cartoon.
A healthy sense of humour is a sign of great intelligence. That, empathy, and kindness to animals. The planet needs Jane Goodalls now more than ever.

An old video of Rhys speaking at a literary convention in Portugal many moons ago. The video is grainy and the audio isn't very sharp. But it's good enough for me to see how handsome and poised and erudite my then yet-to-be husband was.

What a delightful cover. So old world. I will look for a copy when I go to India next.
Rhys Hughes' two new books look like the works of art they are :)
My two new books.

I wasn't expecting them to be published together, let alone with covers that can be joined together into one artwork, but you always get something pleasingly original with Eibonvale Press @eibonvale.bsky.social

(1) ROBOTS IN LOVE.

(2) THAT OTHER EGYPT.

Dig out the thing you wrote for the David Foster Wallace Society.
I'm surprised that Wiktionary quotes from Rhys' book 'Nowhere Near Milkwood' to demonstrate the usage of toasted cheese. I always thought he'd be quoted on aardvarks.

The title of my forthcoming Kannada novel 'Hettavara Neralu' roughly translates as 'In the Shadow of the Birth-givers'. It is entirely fiction but my mum has been suffering from a guilty conscience for reasons best known to herself. And this has been her attitude ever since I announced it 😃
An Indian writer dare not think of being anything other than a 'boohoo-gobbledygook' peddler.
