We were recently guests on the Radical Nurse Talk podcast, where we had the chance to chat about nursing and the difficult — but important — conversations around Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). It was such a great experience, and we’re so thankful they invited us on!
How can we talk about MAiD?

If you’re a health professional, caregiver, or someone seeking clear, balanced information on MAiD, this episode provides guidance, empathy, and education you can use in practice. For more info visit:

We never shared Kim’s appearance on the Disrupting Death podcast!

She spoke about moving from MAiD nurse to granddaughter supporting a loved one through MAiD — powerful and deeply human.

It’s not every day you can be thankful for how a conservative outlet covers MAiD, but credit where it’s due.

We don’t agree with everything in The American Conservative’s article but they handled it seriously and without the usual sensationalism.

After years of growth, MAiD deaths in Canada appear to be leveling off. New provincial data shows year-over-year increases shrinking fast — and the national program is moving toward a stable plateau.

The most common question we get is if people with dementia can have MAiD. With the news of Robert Munsch’s eligibility for MAiD and with the forthcoming federal report on advance requests for dementia, we felt we should take a closer look at the topic.

We fully expected Western University to distance itself from this MAiD paper. Instead they chose to remain silent when professors used racist language to describe Indigenous communities. This cannot stand.

Our new post is out about some recent articles claiming Canadian doctors are suggesting disabled infants should be euthanized. I’m sure you’ll be shocked to learn that these articles are less than honest about this difficult topic.

The Globe and Mail recently published a piece about how Canadian life expectancy has plateaued since 2016. The article points to well-documented factors like the opioid crisis and COVID-19, but then adds that MAiD might be a contributing factor. 😡😡😡

Did you know? A recent Ipsos poll commissioned by DWDC indicates that 85% of people across Canada support the Carter v. Canada decision, recognizing medical assistance in dying (MAID) as a constitutionally protected right.

Kelsi Sheren admits they (her and Jasmine Laine?) deliberately misled everyone about the infamous MAiD for mental illness and mature minors pamphlet they “found” at a health clinic in Manitoba. And she calls us dishonest. Read our updated original article for more details of this deception.

...They actually want to charge them with the most serious crime they can. Not that details or facts get in the way of anything Kelsi says.
That post by Kelsi is extra frustrating for two reasons. First because what that person did has nothing to do with MAiD at all. And second, the reason the trial has been delayed is because the prosecutors have asked the courts if they can charge that person with murder (as they probably should)....

What's the difference between an Advance Care Plan and an advance request? What about an Advance Directive? If you have ever found yourself confused by end-of-life vocabulary, you're not alone. (1/2)
Nothing pisses us off more than people making stuff up about Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) just to scare people. But when you've started to convince people to remove themselves from organ donor registries, you've gone too far.

I was confused there. :-) I see now that you have MAiDinCanada without the hyphens. I wouldn't want to take that from you if you have plans. Or if it's a pain in any way. I'm not even sure how difficult it would be to make the change.
