Guess I should dust this account off and start posting...
Some pics to reintroduce myself here. I work at UFIT Research Computing, where I manage the training team, developing HPC & AI training. I love to #kayak and started #woodturning a couple of years ago.

It actually did stop raining, and we had a great day paddling at Haw Creek Preserve State Park--one of the few @FLStateParks without road access. Certainly in the flood plain today! #kayaking

Hardly a surprise that DeSantis allies would react to our AAUP report by shouting "hoax" and "sensational press"—after all, as Afshan Jafar, Emily Houh, Hank Reichman, and I write in today's Tampa Bay Times, a frequent word our interviewees used to describe Florida's current reality is "Orwellian":
Here’s why we fear a dystopian future for Florida’s universities | Column
It’s time for all of us to say, “Enough.” No more Newspeak. No more lies. No more censorship. No more indoctrination.

The Texas Supreme Court claimed that Kate Cox's doctor didn't say her pregnancy fit the medical exception to its abortion ban and the trial court used a standard other than "reasonable medical judgment"

So imagine my surprise when turned out none of that was true

I'm never going back to writing code w/o AI...

Me: here's a fairly complicated thing I am trying to put into words...can you code it for me?

AI coder: "That sounds like a very complex task."...but here's the code to do it & sample data to test!

*Way* easier than searching!

Turned a shallow bowl from a piece I trimmed off a log while prepping bowl blanks. The colors are wild! It'll likely crack since it's so wet and includes the pith, but a fun project.
