Small demo update went live: the hub map now shows gameplay tips, the controls are shown in the tutorial dialog in case you want to jump right into action, & exiting the shipyard after ship upgrades should work better now.

Building a game is already hard, but releasing a demo and doing #SteamNextFest while at a remote location with a 5mbit connection on family vacation felt like facing Godzilla with a broken frying pan and still winning somehow.

Fun fact: I build Wrath and Retribution mostly on a very uncomfortable seat in a hotel lobby on a MacBook, and most people I tell say it‘s not even possible. Sometimes my back wishes I listened to them, but the coffee is pretty good.

Being a solo dev I find it hard to create and follow a marketing plan, so I usually pick stuff that people may find interesting from the pipeline I am working on anyways, but I edit the things and prepare them. No instant recording upload.

New finding: It depends on the monitor the editor is on.
Not working on main screen (MB Pro w/ XDR display@P3-1600 Nits). On second screen (PHL 279P1) it's fine. Only changing to a non-HDR color space (e.g.Rec.709) on the MB will make the recorder work, but this is a non-solution.

Have other #unity3d devs experienced weird behavior with the Unity Recorder? Recordings with HDR enabled in the URP asset end up looking like they turned on Silent Hill or overexposure mode - game view / build looks fine. Haven't been able to reproduce it in a test project either. #indiedev #gamedev

New enemy added to Wrath and Retribution - the HUNTER DRONE. It'll find you, it'll chase you, and it'll tear you to pieces.

Unless you take care or it first, that is.

Every dev needs to start with sth, and usually the first result is crap. But it‘s so valuable to gather experience. Either because you figure out how to do stuff, or because you realize how challenging game dev actually is. Either way ppl do it with joy and passion, and that‘s what makes it special.

For example what I kept seeing is that X may actually not be worth it (politics aside). Engagement is rare and visibility seems very limited, which is in line with what I hear from so many other folks.

What I was initially looking for is if there was sth specific that worked for you guys particularly? Like (e.g.) Bsky vs X vs TikTok. Or is it the sum of all the actions you listed?
