Anything's fashion if you're confident enough.
Trading doomscrolling for spindle spinning when I just can't with the world has been very rewarding. Plying 330 yards into a giant turtle was incredibly satisfying (turtle shown w/ Puscifer cd for scale). All done except a bath to fluff & set the twist!

Cutting healthcare funding for the most vulnerable among us is economic genocide. People will die. I'm not surprised the wannabe eugenicists in charge are delighted to sign a massive death warrant for the elderly, disabled, and poor into law, but I'm disgusted so few people see it for what it is.
It's so good! I swear I spent more time nuzzling my face against it than spinning!
Just started spinning this 50/50 Yak and silk top and it's the absolute softest, most amazing feeling thing! If I had all of the money, I'd make myself a giant nest out of it.

Had a dream that the Blink-182 nurse talked to my cats and said one of them told her his name was "Dave." I called him "Dave" this morning in case it was true and he looked at me like my toy mouse had lost all of its catnip*

*cat saying similar to "the cheese done slipped off your cracker" etc.
Gorgeous rainbow this afternoon with funky, almost horizontal, streaks of light across it. Hard to see in the pics* but super cool irl. Light does wild stuff during sunset adjacent storms**

*cranked contrast, etc in 2nd for visibility

**or I didn't make the cut for the rapture. It's ok, I 💜 Earth
2nd single of the "Wizard and the Frog" roving from Avalon Springs Farm done! Spinning wee bits on breaks moved things along, but making time for a nice long session today to blast through the last chunk felt really good. Next, onto a bobbin, then plying both together.

Science is important. Medicine is important. Empathy and compassion are important. We only have this one small planet, and what happens to our kin on other continents is far closer and more dangerous to us than we realize. Vaccines save lives and stop diseases from becoming global threats.
If you're not familiar with ebola, WHO has an easy to understand explainer. Scientists have created a vaccine for one of the three viruses that cause it, and are working on vaccines for the other two, but research is expensive and threatened by current politics.

Ebola disease
WHO fact sheet on Ebola: key facts, definition, transmission, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, WHO response.

As far as scary dieases go, ebola is one of the scariest. Outbreaks can be kept in check, but it takes hard work and money; both scarce after U.S. cuts to international health & foreign aid. If you can spare some cash & want to help prevent the spread of ebola and save lives, donate via WHO's link.

🚨 Following the #Ebola outbreak in the #DRC, WHO is launching a US$ 21 million appeal to help the country:

- Scale up operations
- Interrupt transmission chains
- Prevent further spread
- Mitigate the impact on human health

Full donor support is critical to halt the outbreak 👉 bit.ly/3KtjsVG
That makes sense. Thank you!
Just saw two bald eagles circling like vultures. Never seen them do that before. My superstitious side is tempted to think this means something, but my logical side is reminding me that I lack knowledge of eagle behavior.
The "Gremlins" remake you didn't know you wanted
Thankfully I've avoided complete disasters so far, but I feel it's only a matter of time. Today was the closest call yet, with box & packing paper up to the last layer drenched & smelling of a detergent that gives me hives. The book is in scent quarantine & I'm doing a Lady Macbeth level hand scrub
Dear booksellers, please use a waterproof bag or wrapping in addition to a box when shipping due to a massive uptick in wet parcels reeking of perfume or detergent lately from various shippers. It's awful to see a book get damaged or destroyed, especially if it's out of print or scarce.
Look for the helpers
If you didn’t know, now you do! Sunny days are headed our way!
Not sure what's going on with that one big rumor, but I keep picturing the skeksi emperor raging that he is still emperor from his deathbed in The Dark Crystal.
We can still save #PBS & #NPR ! "Made possible by viewers like you" means us and they need us more than ever. If you canceled a Paramount, Prime, Post or Times subscription because they're jerks, why not give that $ to help the folks who brought us Sesame Street, Bob Ross, Martin Yan & so many more?
All the perceived advantages of his shovel were liabilities. It couldn't hold enough snow to counterbalance his body. It was harder to dig shallowly enough to allow motion. It was too heavy to move easily. His dogs had to drag him to safety so the polar bears didn't get him. Wonder what it means.
2 racers used snow shovels, which were apparently traditional. The 3rd used a pointy tipped garden spade. They debated if it was an unfair advantage & he should he disqualified, but let him race. His shovel would not hold him at the usual shallow depth or not move when jammed more deeply.
Dreamed about a shovel race. The shovel blades were jammed at an angle into packed snow. Racers held the handle, put one foot on top of the blade & kicked with the other to propel it. The race was 4 or 5 miles; racers each had 2 sled dogs to pull them to safety if they were too tired to finish.
It's amazing how slippery my brain can be to steer. I'm fighting an overwhelming urge to prune the vines in my yard & teach myself basket weaving right now because I'm apparently trying to sabotage the metric fuckton of housework that needs done on a tight deadline. I love the basket idea, though.
The only way we're going to get through this is together. We've got to look out for each other and help out our neighbors who are most vulnerable to harm. I know things are tough for everyone right now, but if we all do what we can, we'll make it through, even if it doesn't feel like much.
