They didn’t mind if we took pics and recorded a little, but also I didn’t want to watch the whole thing thru my phone, so here’s a little taste of the show, the only bit I took.

Morfydd as Lady Catherine was delightful. I should have recorded a tiny bit of her too but my battery was running low.

Some other things we learned tonight:
They raised more than £70k for aid in Gaza thru ticket sales and donations, and while we were there they had QR codes everywhere for people to donate more.

They told us that none of the participants were being paid. They’d all donated their time for the cause.

I know exactly what you mean! He got whisked outta there quickly so it’s not like anyone got to interact, but if I ever got the chance, I’d love to tell him how TLJ genuinely changed my life for the good. It’s important for him to hear how many of us feel that way!

He was asked if he enjoys subverting expectations. He denied doing any such thing. He said he just wanted to make a story that was character-driven and dive deep into these characters that JJ set up. He would never be condescending to the audience by trying to play “gotcha” with subversion.

He said TLJ was created in a “fearless bubble” of “pure love for Star Wars”

He still regularly gets people coming up to him and gushing about how much TLJ means to them and how it made them feel like a kid watching SW again. (This was super nice to hear!)

While I figure this out, my initial thoughts are that:
A) Rian is humble and constantly deflects praise to himself to praise for the franchise

B) He super loves SW and tried always to make something true to what he loved as a kid

C) He’s very much focused on the positive reception of fans

I have two! One is maybe more a time + self-discipline thing. It’s learn to play the piano. I quit at 11yo and have regretted it forever.

The second is prop making. Like legit props, cinema quality. I’ve dabbled for diy Halloween-trail haunts, but I need $$ and time to really pursue it. Someday!
