Latest work was a little different for me. I wanted to do a still life with the challenge of painting clear glass a friend lent me this vintage 1970s Jack Daniels decanter and I pulled this together. 36x48. I’m pretty happy with the result and will do another! #art #painting #jackdaniels

When I'm in the depths of despair about my country, painting a shelter dog always brings the happiness back. Lenny is one of the six I walk every week. He is a #jewel. #makersmARTch #oilpainting #art #dogs #rescuedogs
Lenny is happy, affectionate, and loves to take a snuggle break during our walk. I believe he's an Australian shepherd, about one year old. He came to us in bad shape - skinny, bug infested, living in a tiny crate - yet still smiling. He loves cheese and grilled hot dogs. Nothing can bring me out of sadness like a dog can.

This commissioned work of a couple’s vacation retreat definitely fits for today.

This was a commissioned work for a couple that wanted a vacation memory of their trip to Antigua. The place they stayed had this unique covered structure with a hammock, surrounded by a pool which overlooks the ocean. They spent most of their vacation just hanging out here and wanted it captured in a painting. The painting has a tropical feeling, lots of shades of blue in the water of the pool, ocean and sky, a few puffy clouds, and of course greens in the surrounding landscape of palms. The focal point is of course the pagoda style structure with a hammock beneath it.

Brilliant sun on a corner. The grey supermarket (supermercato) looks shabby. The sidewalk is losing some of its bricks. A lone figure carrying a bag walks by the supermarket, his shadow and the shadow of a hydro pole the only respite from the sun.

The inspiration for this oil painting was from an autumn trip up to my family’s lake cabin in the Ozarks. The windy and curvy roads to get to the cabin were full of changing colors. Reds, orange and yellow stand out against the green among the trees.

Day 30 of #Januarty theme is “green”. Another old oil painting of mine.. I would take a small brush and paint every single leaf..because I thought things should look perfect close up…not just from a distance…🍃
A path leads upwards and on either sides there are trees and bluebells. The trees have a mass of green leaves along the top of the painting.
